So pretty much a year to today we put out our bits and bobbles baby bootie pattern, after releasing that pattern here on the blog we didnt really do much about it until while browsing pinterest we found a picture of baby ugg boots and were instantly inspired!
We have taken our original pattern we used a year ago and added to it to create adorable ugg boot inspired baby booties!
The pattern which is included below is exactly the same as the one we used a year ago but we have added on past the last row to make them look like little ugg boots.
Here is a link to the original pattern if you would like to just to the base shoe :)
This pattern uses a new technique that we discovered a while back to create little loopies that when used on hats look like curly hair and when used on booties it makes them look fluffy!
This technique is called the loop stitch, it takes a little while to get the hang of but after that it really does enhance your projects :)
We have included a link below to a youtube video by June Gilbank from Planetjune.com as she has an amazing tutorial up on how to do the loop stitch.
- You will need:
- A 4mm crochet hook
- 2 different colours of regular 8ply DK yarn (we chose brown and cream!)
- tapestry needle
- optional - baby shoe insoles
Baby Booties (Using your first colour)
Rnd 1: 2 dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc in next 5
ch, 6 dc in the last ch, turn to work along opposite side of the
beginning ch, dc in next 5 ch, 3 dc in last ch, sl st in top
of first ch, ch 2 (22)
Rnd 2: hdc in same space as sl st, 2 hdc in each
of next 2 dc, hdc in next 5 dc, 2 hdc in each of next 6 dc,
hdc in next 5 dc, 2 hdc in each of next 3 dc, join with a sl st, ch 2 (34)
Rnd 3: hdc in the back loop of each st around,
join with a sl st, ch 2 (34)
Rnd 4: hdc in next 8 hdc, dc2tog (decrease) 8 times, hdc in
next 9 hdc, join with a sl st, ch 2 (26)
Rnd 5: hdc in next 8 hdc, dc2tog (decrease) 4 times, hdc in
next 9 hdc, join with a sl st, ch 2 (22)
Rnd 6: hdc in next 8 hdc, dc2tog (decrease) 2 times, hdc in
next 9 hdc, join with a sl st, ch 2 (20)
Rnd 7: hdc in each st around, join with a sl st (20)
Fasten off and weave in loose ends.
Turn your booties inside out - this ensures that the loops are on the outside of the boot when you turn them right side in again.
Attach your second colour of yarn here and use the tutorial provided above to create 5 rows of loop stitch.
Weave in all loose ends and you're done :)
Optional - find some baby shoe insoles and cut them to size to fit inside of the baby bootie to make them extra comfortable for your baby :)
This pattern can be adapted in so many different ways so please leave us a comment telling us what you did with yours :)
