Tis the season to be jolly!.....and panic over what presents to buy for who and whether that one thing you ordered from eBay will get here on time!
We have just literally put our tree up today....which is a change for us considering the number of times it ends up being put up at the last possible minute!
On a side note the cats are all very happy the tree is finally up and have already made use of it.....the amount of times the tree started shaking of its own accord and then a pair of ears popped out the top of the tree......
Anyway since the tree was there and there was no more decorating we could do today (need to buy more decorations tomorrow!) we decided to see what we could crochet to put on the tree.
After a quick search on Google and Pinterest we decided on bells since we have already made hats, booties and snowflakes for our tree.
For this pattern you will need:
- 4mm crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Two regular DK balls of wool in the colour of your choice
- Little pom poms (or you can make your own!)
- Stitch marker
Terminology used (we use US terms!)
Ch - Chain
HDC - Half Double Crochet
Sl St - Slip Stitch
Rnd 2: 2 HDC into each HDC from the previous round (12)
Rnd 3: 1 HDC into each HDC around (12)
Rnd 4: *1 HDC into next HDC, 2 HDC into the next HDC* repeat *to* around (18)
Rnd 5-10: 1 HDC into each HDC around (18)
At this point feel free to change to a different colour for the rim of the bell.
Rnd 11: 2 HDC into each HDC around (36)
Rnd 12-13: 1 HDC into each HDC around (36)
Rnd 14: Sl St into each HDC around, this gives the bell a nice rim to it (36)
Finish off and weave in ends with a tapestry needle.
To make the inside of the bell, attach a pom pom to a bit of string the same length as the bell and sew it to the inside as shown by the picture below:
You can either use a little bit of string thread through the top of the bell to hang it on the tree or you can simply chain 12 and join them together to create a loop.
And there you go! one Christmas bell which you can use to decorate your tree!
As always please feel free to leave us a comment or drop by our facebook page! we love to see pictures of the stuff you guys make!
