How to Crochet a Heart

In the spirit of valentines day I thought it would be a good time to upload my crocheted heart pattern :)

Miko, my cat modelling the heart :)

This is a great little embellishment for any project and looks great just on its own.

Depending on what wool and hook size you use, the size and shape of the hearts can vary,

For this pattern I used Super chunky wool and a 4mm crochet hook (for the larger heart I simply switched to a 6mm hook)

with the 4mm hook the heart measured 4cm long & 5cm wide, the 6mm measured 6.5cm long & 6cm wide

This pattern requires you to work in a magic loop, do not tighten the loop until the pattern specifies this

How to Crochet a Heart

Make a magic loop

(work all of row 1 in the magic loop)

chain 2

Row 1: 3 Treble crochets (tr), 4 Double crochets (dc), 1 Treble crochets (tr), 4 Double crochets (dc), 3 Treble crochets (tr)

chain 2

Now tighten the loop until the hole is almost closed,

Now slip stitch through the hole and finish off

Pull the loop completely closed, secure by weaving in ends with a tapestry needle.

As always, Please feel free to comment if you have any questions :)
